embrace-english-school.jpg

She seems distraught at my countenance.

The food is still warm, and her tender steps forlorn.

She weeps for me now. I clutch her to embrace.

“Don’t go.”

“I will be here for the birth, this conflict won’t last long.”

“I will never see you again, my love.”

“I would never leave you.”

She’s so innocent; I wouldn’t have it any other way.

So beautiful it makes my heart ache.

Even while the world is breaking she trusts me.

But a promise broken is forsaken.

and for that men and the machines shall sigh.

I close a door and remain.
